Musical history.
Growing up in a large family of musicians, Ron was surrounded by music from an early age. He began studying piano at five years old, developing the strong musical foundation that would shape everything that followed. Years of lessons, recitals, and competitions nurtured not only his technical skills but also a lifelong appreciation for music as both an art and a form of personal expression.
As a teenager, Ron discovered the guitar and was immediately drawn to its expressive range and versatility. What began with the music of artists like Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Robert Johnson soon expanded into the worlds of classical and jazz, where influential musicians such as Andrés Segovia and Wes Montgomery opened the door to entirely new ways of thinking about the instrument.
While earning a degree in International Studies at Syracuse University, Ron began his formal study of classical guitar before continuing his musical education at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he majored in Guitar and Composition. There he refined his skills as both a performer and musician, building the classical foundation that continues to influence his work while embracing the broad range of styles that have defined his career ever since.
Since moving to the Los Angeles area in 2007, Ron has helped hundreds of new musicians reach their musical goals through private instruction, group lessons, ensemble coaching, and classroom instruction. He has directed music programs at STAR Prep Academy, St. Paul the Apostle School, Oakwood School Academy of Creative Education, Santa Monica Academy of Music, and Southwestern Academy in San Marino. In addition to maintaining a thriving private teaching studio throughout the West Side of Los Angeles, Ron remains active as a solo performer, church musician, freelance guitarist and bassist, piano accompanist, studio guitarist, and music producer, collaborating with local artists on recording and production projects across a wide range of musical styles.
